IGL gets exclusivity for gas distribution network in NCR

IGLPetroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (P&NGRB) has allowed Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) to implement gas distribution network in the entire national capital region of Delhi. IGL supplies compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) across NCR.

It is a joint venture of State run GAIL (India) Ltd and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd along with Government of NCT of Delhi.

Confirming the approval from board, IGL said, "In a communication, P&NGRB has finally accepted that IGL is the only authorized entity for implementation of Delhi City Gas Distribution Project - supply of CNG for transport sector and PNG for kitchens in the entire NCT of Delhi."

The company has been advised to follow all technical and safety standards and specifications set under P&NGRB Act 2006. The act allows IGL a marketing exclusivity for a period of three years and network exclusivity for 25 years.

The managing director of IGL, Rajesh Vedvyas said, "The New Year has begun on a happy note for us with the development that P&NGRB has accorded its 'acceptance' to the authorization with IGL to implement the city gas distribution project in the entire NCT of Delhi."
