While the flick starring Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and R. Madhavan scored a prefect goal at the box office, the company is also banking enough brand equity due to the heavy marketing that it did before the launch. In fact, the company has recently bagged the Brand Derby ranking of brand launches in 2009 for the perfect launch platform.
It may be noted here that this flick raced ahead of certain heavily marketed categories such as telecommunications, food, automobiles and media & entertainment.
While 3 idiots took the pole position in the category, it was followed by products like Tata DOCOMO, Bajaj Auto's Pulsar 135 LS, Nokia E72 and Samsung Corby.
Experts and critics have labelled the accolade being attracted by the great performances led by the perfectionist, Aamir Khan (read: Ghajini was ranked eighth in the 2008 Derby) and Boman Irani, coupled with the magical touch of the successful director Rajkumar Hirani.
However, as experts believe that there will be no sequel to this, it simply means that the brand will reach its dead end and even as the students were ordinary children, it will not make any sense to launch a cyber game or merchandise on these lines.
