ICL Offered Me Rs 10 Crore Deal: Mortaza
Bangladesh vice-captain Mashrafe Mortaza claimed that he was presented with an offer of Rs 10 crore by the Indian Cricket League (ICL). However, he rejected the offer.
Speaking with reporters, the all-rounder said, “I turned down an offer of Rs.10 crore from the ICL authority. I had been offered Rs.8 crore before it was raised to Rs.10 crore.”
“Money is important and no doubt all professional players play for money. But in my opinion for a player's first priority should be his country,” he added.
The lanky all-rounder also disclosed that the ICL authorities had rung him up several times, offering to build a team before the Australia tour. But he did not show any interest.
Last week, 13 Bangladeshi players including its former skipper Habibul Bashar, joined the ICL to form the new team "Dhaka Warriors". The Bangladeshi team is now facing a serious problem of playing XI as they are set to play a two Test match and three ODI series against Kiwis in the coming days.
