ICC Test Rankings: Younis Khan Jumps To Top Spot With Triple Century!

ICC Test Rankings: Younis Khan Jumps To Top Spot With Triple Century! Pakistani skipper Younis Khan's maiden triple ton against Sri Lanka in the drawn Test at Karachi moved him six places ahead to take the number one position in the latest ICC player rankings for Test batsmen released here.

Responding to Lankan mammoth total of 644, Younis batted for nearly 13 hours, for his 313. With this, he became just the third Pakistan player in history to get past the 300-run mark in a Test. Hanif Mohammad's (337 vs West Indies in Bridgetown) and Inzamam-ul-Haq's (329 vs New Zealand in Lahore) are the other players who had scored triple centuries in the past for Pakistan. Moreover, it was Younis' first game as a skipper since he took over from Shoaib Malik last month.

The prolific right hand batsman was the only real mover in the top 20 of the rankings although Mahela Jayawardena's double hundred in the same match meant that he stood in fourth position as Australia's Michael Clarke droped two places to fifth position.

The Pakistani skipper knocked off West Indies' left-handed batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul from the pole position, who is now in the second spot with Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka in third.
