Hyundai sees record sales in US
On Wednesday, the Hyundai Corporation said that it expects to post record sales in US during the month of March. This, the company said, is possible since there is growing demand for its Sonata brand of sedans.
Talking about the development of the company, Chief Executive of US, John Krafcik said that the demand is going to be very strong.
He also said that the Korean auto-maker is likely to sell in between 47,000-48,000 vehicles in US market alone during March. This is 18 per cent higher than the sales during same period last year. In 2009, it sold 40,7000 units.
However, John said that the only problem that the company can face is that it can run out of cars at the end of the month.
Hyundai in collaboration with Kia Motors Corp, are the only auto majors who have managed to increase their auto sales during 2009. This has happened when the whole industry fell by 21 per cent.
Hyundai wants to increase its market share in the US market from 4.2 per cent to 4.5 per cent. In 2008, it had a share of only 3 per cent.
