Hyundai Motor launches fluidic 2012 Elantra in India
South Korean electronics giant, Hyundai Motors has announced the launch of its new fluidic 2012 Elantra in the Indian market after the vehicle saw huge success in the US and other markets.
Hyundai Motor India Limited, the automaker's Indian unit, will offer the car in 7 variants, out of which four will be powered by a diesel engine and three will run on a petrol engine. The company has claimed that it has already received 750-800 bookings for Elantra.
The model will be named i40 and has the company's Hyundai's fluidic design. The car is powered by a 1,797cc petrol and 1,582cc diesel engine. The petrol engine is capable of churning out 149.5PS @6,500 rpm and a 181Nm of torque @ 4700 rpm while the diesel powertrain churns out 128PS @ 4000 rpm at 265Nm of torque between 1,900-2,750 rpm.
The buyers will also be able to choose between manual or automatic transmission in any variant. The company says that the diesel version will offer a mileage of over 22kmpl while the petrol version will deliver a mileage of 16kmpl.
The petrol versions will be priced at between Rs 12.51-14.24 lakhs, while the diesel variants will be priced between Rs 12.91-15.85 lakhs in the national capital, New Delhi.
