Hotels and Resorts, a unit of Taj group of hotels, has opened a new hotel in Coorg in the southern Indian state of Karnataka.

This is the 25th property with the Vivanta brand since it was launched in 2010. The new hotel will be situated at an altitude of 4,000 ft and will offer panoramic view of the Western Ghats and the mountains of Coorg. The new hotel will be built on 180 acres of subtropical rainforest and will have 63 rooms and villas and presidential Nirvana Suite

Raymond N Bickson, MD & CEO, Indian Hotels Company Limited, said, "Vivanta by Taj - Madikeri, Coorg is Taj Group's first hill station hotel. It presents Coorg in a new avatar with a 'One with nature' themed rainforest experience. The hotel offers experiences like earth craft, adventure trails and survival training, a Coorg conservatory and destination cued dining and cultural motifs."

The Vivanta brand has been expanding quickly as the Madikeri, Coorg hotel is the forth hotel in the brand to be launched in 2012. The Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces has 99 hotels in 56 locations across the country as well as 16 international hotels in the Maldives, Malaysia, Australia, UK, USA, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Africa and the Middle East.
