Himalya International inks pact with US-based grocery chain

Himalya International LtdHimachal Pradesh-based Himalya International has signed an agreement with US-based grocery chain ALDI to sell its products under "Himalya Fresh" brand name in America.

Under the arrangement, ALDI grocery stores would sell Himalya Fresh products like frozen vegetables, baby potatoes and breaded appetisers through 1,000 retail stores across the US, company Chairman Manmohan Malik said in a statement here.

The company is expecting exports to the US to grow by 60% and touch USD 10 million during the current financial year.

Himalya International, Ltd., a frozen food company, engages in growing and processing mushrooms, baby potatoes, and buffalo cheese. The company offers various categories of mushrooms; processes vegetables and baby potatoes; manufactures buffalo milk Italian cheeses; and provides sweets and appetizers. It also involves in contract farming activities.

The stock of the company closed on Wednesday at Rs 16 on BSE, up 2% compared to previous close of Rs 15.60.
