Want to know how the hotel of the future will look like? Here’s the idea that came from a Japanese businessman, replacing hotel staff with robots, adding facial recognition to hotel room door and many more.

Don’t be afraid of English-speaking, vicious-looking dinosaur at the reception as it is only there to help you. A female humanoid with blinking lashes will help those who speak Japanese. The dinosaur says to push one to guests so that they can check in. A button on the desk has to be punched by the visitor and information needs to be typed on a touch panel screen.

An automated trolley from the front desk will take your luggage up to the room. Located in southwestern Japan and called Weird Hotel, this hotel mostly consists of robots to cut down labor costs.

The hotel is run by Hideo Sawada, who says that use of robots shows a serious effort to make use of technology and achieve efficiency. The hotel is called Henn na Hotel in Japanese and reporters were briefed about it ahead of its opening to the public on Friday.

Facial recognition technology is another feature of the hotel, meaning no hassle of carrying electronic keys. The digital image of the guest's face will be registered during the check-in. But why facial recognition? Actually, robots are not very good at findings keys, if people mistakenly lose them.

Sawada told reporters, “I wanted to highlight innovation. I also wanted to do something about hotel prices going up”.
