Hearing on black money issue and bail of former Gujarat Minister Amit Shah
The major political news that hit the headlines is the hearing on black money issue and bail of former Gujarat Minister Amit Shah.
Black money issue is a politically sensitive matter in which apex court has asked government to file reply about various probing issues which are making government reluctant in announcing the names of the Indians who have deposited black money in banks abroad.
On the other hand CBI has to convince apex court to cancel the bail granted by the Gujarat High Court to Shah, who has been arrested on the fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh.
A bench of two judges Aftab Alam and R M Lodha is assigned to take two decisions on the issue of Sohrabuddin fake encounter case. Firstly they have to decide on the CBI's petition seeking the cancellation of bail for former Gujarat Home minister and charge sheeted accused Amit Shah and secondly they have to deal with the petition by the agency to transfer the trial out of the state, preferably to Mumbai.
Last year, Gujarat High Court had granted bail to Mr Shah and CBI has advanced towards Supreme Court for the cancellation of bail. CBI has put forward that Mr. Shah has a strong political influence and nobody in Gujarat will stand against him in the court.
As far as hearing on the black money issue is concerned, the hearing will take place at the backdrop of the government ruling out disclosure of names of the account holders.
