Harley-Davidson X440 to Launch Tomorrow; The Most Affordable ‘Made in India’ Harley-Davidson
Harley-Davidson X440 will by launched tomorrow for Indian motorbike enthusiasts. The ‘Made in India’ Harley-Davidson X440 is a powerful, yet the most affordable motorcycle from the iconic American brand. The single-cylinder bike will be manufactured by two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp in India. Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp deal was first announced in October 2020 as in September 2020, Harley-Davidson had announced its plans to discontinue sales and manufacturing in India.
The Harley-Davidson X440 will be competing with Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Honda H’ness CB350 in Indian market. The premium motorcycle segment has been growing in India and X440 will be catering to that category of young buyers who are starting their journey in the wonderful world of Harley-Davidson.
There are many Harley-Davidson fans in India but the sales volume still remained low as the bikes were quite expensive. Hero MotoCorp will manufacture and sell Harley bikes in India. The company will also offer after-sales services for Harley-Davidson in India. Hero MotoCorp has pan-India presence and the company is having a robust dealership and repair network. Some of the brand-exclusive Harley-Davidson dealers will continue operating in India and Hero MotoCorp will also sell merchandise through that network.
The bike will be 440 cc and will be powered by single-cylinder air-cooled engine with an oil-cooler. The transmission will be a 6-speed and the bike can offer power output of 30 bhp with 40 Nm of peak torque. The bike looks wonderful with all-LED lighting, a TFT instrument cluster and premium-looking multi-function switchgear. Harley-Davidson or Hero MotoCorp has not revealed the pricing details for X440 but market estimates suggest that it could be priced between Rs 2.6 to 2.9 lakh.
The bike can also compete with Royal Enfield Hunter 450 and Triumph-Bajaj partnership bike. On July 3, we will get more details about specifications and pricing for Harley-Davidson X440.
