Harley may start sourcing components from India

Harley may start sourcing components from IndiaThere is no denying that the cruiser-bike maker Harley Davidson is a true cult American Bike manufacturer but the castings and forgings that it uses in its mean machines are Chinese and the company officials are open to the idea of sourcing them from India.

The company has recently announced its pan-India dealership network. The company started searching for business partners in September last year; it has finally short listed partners in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Bangalore. In fact, the company may source components for its bike from the Indian market.

Notably, Harley will not be the first niche bike manufacturer to do so as BMW already sources key components from the Indian market for the 85,000 units of bikes that it sells every year across the globe. Moreover, the company also claims that it has got 500 'serious' booking enquiries for the product that it aiming to sell in the next couple of weeks.

The company will start its booking process by the 20th of April this year. Experts believe that Harley's participation in sourcing will be a boost for the Indian ancillaries market.
