GSM subscriber base touched 421million mark in March 2010The GSM subscriber base of the country has touched the 421 million mark. This has been reported by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) as it released the latest figures for March 2010.

The GSM telecom operators’ body COAI has informed that these figures have been found out by the end of the March 2010. In this particular month, around 14 million new customers have been added to the GSM customer base.

So far as the GSM service providers are concerned, Vodafone Essar Ltd. has topped the list by adding maximum number of subscribers in the same month. It has managed to add 3.6 million users during the period and has become the third telecom service provider in India after Bharti Airtel and Reliance to have a subscriber base of more than 100 million subscribers.

India’s number one telecom company Bharti Airtel has added around 3 million subscribers while the state-owned telecom firm Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. has increased its consumer by nearly 2.5 million. Aircel and Idea cellular have followed the list by adding 2 million and 1.7 million subscribers during March.
