Groupon suspends gun-related offers

Groupon suspends gun-related offersLeading discount deals major, Groupon have said that it is suspending all offers related to guns on its services for indefinite amount of time.

The company wrote an email to the customers informing that the service will no longer offer gun related offers. Julie Mossler, a representative for Groupon did not discuss if the company would consider including gun related deals again anytime in the future.

Mossler said that Groupon "has been testing firearm-related deals, including shooting ranges and concealed weapons courses for the last 8 months. Based on performance and customer and merchant feedback, it's clear they're not a fit right now."

The move is being welcomed by the activists who were asking the companies to stop all offers linked to guns in the country in the wake of recent gun related crimes in the US including some mass shootings. On the other hand, gun shop owners have expressed surprise over the company's move to stop such deals and indicated that they might be willing to work with Groupon again if it decided to join the industry in the future.

Some say that the move to block gun deals by the company is apolitical act aimed at creating a desired image of the company, which deals directly with the customers.
