GM India grows by over 100% in April 2010

Chevrolet-BeatThere is no denying that the recently launched Chevrolet Beat is doing the expected trick in the Indian market as the Indian subsidiary of the once the Detroit giant, General motors has filed an increase of over 120% in the Indian market.

Notably, the company sold 10601 units in April 2010 as against 4823 units in April 2009, out of which the small cars, Spark and Beat are playing a major role in the growth of the company. While Beat sold 3852 units, the company sold 3507 units of Chevrolet Spark in the last month.

The rest of the volumes came to the door as 1529 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 692 units of Chevrolet Cruze, 529 units of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, 315 units of Chevrolet Aveo, 115 units of Chevrolet Captiva and 62 units of Chevrolet Optra.

However, the company plans to reduce the waiting period for Beat, Cruze and Spark at the soonest after the company will introduce second shift at both its plants. P Balendran, Vice-President, GM India said that the company expects robust growth from the products in the A2 segment even in the coming times.
