Global Warming is an Imminent Threat: Study

A new Climate Council report has warned that if we want to stay hopeful to control climate change, fossil fuels must be left in the ground and the world must also be decarbonized completely in coming 30-35 years.

The warning has been given on the basis of findings according to which, the case behind 2°C as a 'safe' level of global warming is weakening at a very fast pace. The report named 'Growing Risks, Critical Choices' released on Tuesday, August 26.

Scientists said that in comparison to 2011, when the Climate Council's Critical Decade report was published, the risks of climate change seems to be much serious now, even at lower levels of warming.

The latest report warned that at present, level of understanding, the scientific case for a 1.5°C limit is more steady, warning for 'even more urgent action'. This report has raised concerns, especially because many major countries' official emissions targets are 'not consistent' with keeping global warming below 2°C.

As per the report, on Monday, policy experts and scientists have announced that global warming could turn into a serious threat to humans in coming time. They expressed their concerns at the California Climate Change Symposium that took place in Sacramento.

The Daily News reported that according to the scientists, it is very important to come at a global agreement to fight climate change as soon as the imminent UN Climate Change Conference in Paris. As per scientists, people, who are against the climate change agenda, are required to join the efforts for fighting global warming as well.
