GHCL Plans to enter Retail Sector
Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Limited (GHCL) has announced its plans to enter into the retail sector with launch of a new brand “Grace” in New Delhi by the end of this year. The company has more than 300 retail outlets in United Kingdom. GHCL Chairman Mr. Sanjay Dalmia told reporters that the company has seen a tremendous response in UK and now the company is ready to test the Indian markets. The company will use franchisee system to expand its business all across the country over next three years.
The company officials have done the research work in Indian markets and the distributors have been selected for the expansion plans already. The total investment over the three years will be around Rs 125 crore. To start with, the company will open its exclusive retail outlets and later offer franchise model to increase its reach all over the country.
The company has a very different business model. GHCL will become the first company in the world which will be involved in growing organic cotton and sell the end product in its own stores across the country. The company will promote its own design studios in USA, India and Europe. The company has plans to offer unique designs at an affordable price. The price range for Indian market will be between Rs 399 – Rs 1499.
The company also has plans to enter furniture and home decoration market. The company will offer quality products at affordable cost. Mr. Dalmia told that GHCL will target hotel industry and expects 15 – 20 revenue from this segment.
