Munich - German alpine ski talent Lisa-Marie Walz is out for the season after rupturing the cruciate ligament in her left knee, the German ski federation (DSV) has announced.

Walz, 19, suffered the injury during training in Canada last week and underwent surgery in Munich on the weekend.

The speed event specialist Walz was due to compete in her first World Cup season after just two races so far in the series, but according to doctors is now sidelined for six months. (dpa)
