German foreign minister arrives in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi - German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrived in the capital of the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, Abu Dhabi, on the last stop of his tour of Pakistan and the Gulf.

Steinmeier is due to meet the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, as well as attend the opening function for a German school in the emirate.

On Thursday Steinmeier is scheduled to meet with officials from the UAE's sovereign wealth fund, an 875-billion-dollar fund that is reportedly seeking to increase its involvement in Europe.

Steinmeier arrived in the wealthy Gulf emirate from neighbouring Saudi Arabia, where he urged the international community to cooperate to avert economic collapse in Pakistan. (dpa)
