German airspace reopened on Sunday

German airspace reopened on SundayIt has been reported that German air traffic control authorities reopened airspace over the south of the country Sunday, after earlier shutting down the major airports at Munich and Stuttgart as new volcanic ash from Iceland arrived.

Delays would likely continue Monday as airlines rescheduled hundreds of cancelled flights, officials have said.

Officials also said that both airports had been shut down until further notice earlier Sunday, as the cloud from renewed volcanic activity on the Atlantic island spread over Europe.

It was reported on Friday by Iceland's Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management reported that volcano under the Eyjafjallajoekull glacier, 120 km south-east of Reykjavik, was again spewing increased amounts of ash.

It was further reported that airspace was also closed in the Czech Republic and Austria late Sunday.
