Sensex Opens Weak; Wipro, DLF PlungeIndian stocks opened the day on a weak note following worldwide signals.

The 30-share index, BSE Sensex belled the day after losing 90.14 points at 9,316.33, as against its last closure at 9,406.47, down 180.41 points, on Friday (Jan 09).

Realty, IT and power stocks were among the major losers, while metal and consumer durables edged higher on selective buying action.

BSE Midcap and Smallcap index fell 0.33% and 0.04% respectively, as not much buying was seen in these segments.

Binani Cement To Raise Production By 2011-12Binani Cement Ltd has decided to make an investment of more than Rs 900 crore for establishing greenfield plants both in India as well as abroad to raise its overall production capacity to 15 million tonnes by the next three years (2011-12).

The company plans to invest around Rs 800 crore on the construction of a new plant in Gujarat, which would have an installed production capacity of about 2.5 million tonnes.

Moreover, the company is also eyeing a unit in Mauritius with a proposed capacity of two million tonnes.

Akki, who has pushed King Khan to the No. 2 position, paid Rs 19 crore in taxes, and turned the highest taxpayer in the country this year.

On the other hand, Shahrukh Khan has paid around Rs 15 crore in income tax.

On the celebrity tax payer list, the third position goes to Hrithik Roshan with a payment of Rs 8 crore, while Aamir Khan is on fourth place, who paid Rs 7 crore as income tax.
