Study: Folic Acid and Vitamin B Supplements Offer No Cancer Protection

According to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Researchers have found that folic acid and other vitamin B supplements do not offer any benefit in lowering cancer risk. On the upside, researchers noted that it won’t increase your risk either.

Dr. Shumin Zhang, study author and an associate professor of medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, in Boston said, "In women at risk of cardiovascular disease, we found that folic acid, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 had no beneficial or harmful effects on the risk of invasive cancer or breast cancer."

However, keeping in mind the terror threats on the Aussies, he took a U-Turn and said, "There is no specific threat to any individual player and there is no threat input".

Oil Firms Reduce Jet Fuel PricesIn order to support the local airline firms the government scrapped basic customs duty of 5% on the fuel on Friday.  

Following suit, the Oil Companies reduced jet fuel prices by Rs 2,100 per kilolitre. Ever since October, the oil companies have reduced jet fuel prices by over 16 percent in response to the fall in international prices. The price cut will be effective from midnight of 3 November. The fuel will now sell at Rs 44,965.70 a kilolitre in Delhi and Rs 46, 518.85 a kilolitre in Mumbai.

Nurses blame hospital authorities for death of their colleagueFew nurses at the NRS Medical College and Hospital protested against the hospital authorities. The nurses claim that staff nurse Kaveri Bhowmik died due to negligence of the hospital authorities.

Death certificate of Staff Nurse Kaveri Bhowmik says that she had suffered a stroke but fellow nurses claim she showed the symptoms of dengue or encephalitis. They also say that she was not given proper treatment, not even given a bed and was also not given proper attention by the head of the nursing staff.
