The Union Government will set up 6,000 Model Schools on the lines of Kendriya Vidyalayas (Central Schools). Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the scheme on Thursday.
The scheme aims to have at least one good quality secondary school in every block.
In the first phase of the scheme, 2,500 Model Schools will come up in the first phase of the scheme. Those will be established in Educationally Backward Blocks (EBBs) with the help of respective state governments. State Govt. will provide land for the schools.
