BJP demands CBI probe into Rahul's killingThe BJP had demanded for a CBI probe into the killing of Bihar youth Rahul Raj. Raj was killed in a shootout with Mumbai Police on 27 October.

"The postmortem report and the comments of the medical experts clearly indicate that there was foul play in the killing of the youth. Our party demands a CBI inquiry into the incident so that the truth is known," BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.

India to set up 6,000 model schoolsThe Union Government will set up 6,000 Model Schools on the lines of Kendriya Vidyalayas (Central Schools). Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the scheme on Thursday.

The scheme aims to have at least one good quality secondary school in every block.

In the first phase of the scheme, 2,500 Model Schools will come up in the first phase of the scheme. Those will be established in Educationally Backward Blocks (EBBs) with the help of respective state governments. State Govt. will provide land for the schools.

U.S. Marshalls Seize Tainted Heparin In Ohio The U.S. marshals sent by the Food and Drug Administration seized some supplies of contaminated blood thinner containing material from China, from an Ohio company’s supplies. Eleven lots of heparin from Celsus Laboratories Inc. of Cincinnati were seized from the company that distributes heparin to drug and medical-device manufacturers both in the United States and internationally.

Mike Chappell, the FDA's acting associate commissioner for regulatory affairs said, "This action will help prevent this contaminated heparin from finding its way into the marketplace."

The study published in the November issue of Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, said the reason for this reduced risk could be the lower estrogen levels which migraine sufferers have.

Auto and IT stocks went down, whereas oil & gas and FMCG stocks gained ground.  

BSE Midcap and Smallcap index climbed 0.32% and 0.15% respectively.

Today, the 30-share index, BSE Sensex opened at 9,631.59, down 102.63 points, as against its last closure in which it settled with a loss of 385.79 points.
