It seems that the unfortunate scene of economic slowdown may never end. It has been learnt now that the year 2008 is being made longer by the world's timekeepers, as they add a leap second to the last day of the year.

The Earth too is slowing down along with the economy, and it has persuaded the timekeepers to add an extra second to their atomic clocks to keep in sync with the Earth's slightly slowing rotation. So this means that on December 31st 2008, an extra second will be tacked on after 5:59:59 p. m. and before 6 p. m. Central Standard Time.

The extra second will actually make 2008, that already had an extra day on Feb. 29, the longest year since 1992.

It was reported just a few days back that a Sony Vaio laptop would soon hit the PC market. The details of the new netbook, apparently called Sony P series netbook were accidentally released by the company on its SonyStyle site, after it released the countdown page.

It has been learnt that the netbook has a meaningful name where 'P' stands for Pocket. It can be guessed from here that the netbook might fit into your pocket. It has been further leart that users would be able to avail this net book in three colors, namely crimson red, champagne gold and black silk.

A group of scientist, investigating one of the mysteries of the universe have been shaken by new shots of a "giant cosmic car crash" about 100 million years ago.

The team of the scientists informs that new clues about the existence of 'dark matter' are revealed via the spectacular intergalactic collision. A snapshot of clusters smashing into one another has been displayed in the blues and pinks captured by the powerful telescopes. The presence of dark matter is predicted in the blue area.

Recently a research conducted by iSuppli has put forward the fact that the global desktop shipments have been exceeded, for the very first time, by shipments of notebook hardware.

It has been suggested by the latest quarterly figures of iSuppli that in the Q3 of 2008, notebook shipments hit 38.6 million, which marks an increase of some 40 percent. On the other hand, there was a drop in the shipments of desktop by 1.3 percent to a quarterly total of 38.5 million units.
