The bail application of Pune-based horse owner Hasan Ali Khan (56) was rejected by the Bhoiwada Metropolitian Magistrate R B Agarwal on Wednesday.
He was arrested by the Worli police under the Passport Act for possessing multiple passports and on charges of cheating. The court accepted plea of the prosecution that certain documents have to be seized and if he is released on bail, he might tamper with the evidence. Court has sent Khan to judicial custody till January 6.
The defence said that prima facie, no case under the Passports Act was made out against him.

Washington: According to a new study, long sleep can reduce the risk of heart disease. Study by research team at the University of Chicago suggests that participants, who slept an hour longer per night than others, had a lower incidence of coronary artery calcification. 
Fortis Healthcare would raise funds with rights issue by the end of June 2009. The company board has approved the plan to raise Rs 1,000 crore. The funds would be used for debt adjustments and further expansion of the business. Significant parts of the fund would be used for the proposed Medi-City project in Gurgaon. Fortis would also upgrade its existing facilities and explore more investment opportunities in the market. The company currently has 23 hospitals and wants to add more by 2012.
The Director General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) has declared certification for a gas discovery by the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) in the Krishna-Godavari basin. The decision would help to make Gujarat, the gas hub of the country. Experts believe that the commercial value of approved Krishna-Godavari basin offshore block KG-OSN-2001/3 would be around $6 billion as per the prevailing market prices.
