New Delhi, Jan 8 : Vegetable prices have almost doubled with vendors at Delhi''s Adazpur wholesale vegetable market blaming the truckers'' strike for supply shortages.

"There is a shortage of a few vegetables, if the strike continues. We will face more problems," claimed Rajinder Kumar, a wholesale vegetable seller.

Regular customers said prices have doubled.

"We come here daily to buy vegetables. The rates have doubled because of the strike," said Akhilesh Kewat, a customer.

Most vegetable supplies enter the capital from neighbouring states through trucks.

Washington, Jan 8: A team of scientists has found the first ever evidence of asteroids with an Earth-like crust.

A research team, primarily composed of geochemists from the University of Maryland, US, estimated that two rare meteorites found in Antarctica two years ago are from a previously unknown, ancient asteroid with an outer layer or crust similar in composition to the crust of Earth's continents.

This is the first ever finding of material from an asteroid with a crust like Earth's. The discovery also represents the oldest example of rock with this composition ever found.

These meteorites point "to previously unrecognized diversity" of materials formed early in the history of the Solar System, according to researchers.

Bird flu is continuously spreading to different parts of the country.

Health officials, on Wednesday, have confirmed a fresh H5N1 virus outbreak in the Darjeeling region of eastern India.

The officials ordered the veterinary and health workers to restart culling operations.

Mr. Surendra Gupta, district magistrate, stated, “We have started culling operations at Rangli Ranglikot area of Darjeeling. This time a total of 7,000 poultry will be culled.”
