Radio Pakistan finds Manmohan Singh Government enemy of Sikhism!

Dr. Manmohan SinghAbohar, Feb. 10: The Punjabi Durbar programme of Radio Pakistan has been trying to propagate that the Government of India, headed by the Dr. Manmohan Singh, has an agenda to uproot Sikhism and Islam.

The allegation have surprised local residents in Abohar who cannot believe that a Sikh could have an agenda of destroying Sikhism.

Residents of this village keep their surroundings clean by voluntarily performing all the civic duties such as sweeping the roads and lanes, watering the plants in public area and cleaning the drains.

Arjun Singh appeals to States to raise budgetary support for education

Arjun SinghNew Delhi, Feb. 10, : Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh on Tuesday appealed to all States to raise their budgetary support for education and welcomed members who have been nominated to the reconstituted Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) for the first time.

Addressing the education ministers of all States at the 55th meeting of the CABE, Singh stated that an outlay of Rs. 270 thousand crore has been made available for the Ministry of HRD for the XIth plan as against the Xth plan expenditure of Rs. 58,817 Crore.

PCB team to visit India on February 19 to discuss World Cup preparations

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) LogoKarachi, Feb. 10 : A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) committee headed by Board chairman Ijaz Butt will be visiting New Delhi to attend an emergency meeting of the
2011 World Cup Central Organising Committee to be held on February 19, The News reports.

Butt will be accompanied by PCB's Chief Operating Officer (COO) Saleem Altaf and new Managing Director Salman Butt.

Top officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will also be attending the meeting.

Sienna Miller wins Elle Style Icon Award

Sienna MillerLondon, Feb 10 : English actress Sienna Miller has come out tops at the swanky Elle Style Awards where she was presented with the biggest award of the night, the Elle Style Icon Award.

Miller, who was given the award for her unique, fashion forward style, was joined by other stars for the fashion event held at the Big Sky London studio, reports the Sun.

Slumdog Millionaire was again the winner of most of the awards, with actress Freida Pinto taking home the award for best actress, and actor Mickey Rourke getting his second best actor award.

Media accreditation process opens for ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier

ICC LogoDubai, Feb. 10 : The accreditation process for all members of the media intending to cover the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier (CWCQ) is now open.

Members of the media who wish to carry out their work at the event are urged to submit their applications before the close of business on Friday 20 February 2009 (Dubai time).

The tournament will see the world's top 12 Associate and Affiliate teams compete at nine venues in 19 days from 1 to 19 April. Three of the nine grounds - at Benoni, Potchefstroom and Centurion - are ODI-accredited venues.
