Jharkhand High Court to hear Raj Thackeray''s petition

Raj Thackeray Ranchi, Nov. 14 : The Jharkhand High Court is hearing a plea from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray to transfer a complaint case from a Jamshedpur court to Mumbai.

The petition had been filed last month after a case was filed against Thackeray in June this year for insulting religious beliefs.

Asia-Pacific airlines brace for tough times in global crisis

In response, the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines appealed to governments, airports and aviation service providers in the region to refrain from putting further financial strains on the industry through excessive taxes and charges.

Fish reach a consensus when it comes to choosing a leader

Washington, November 14 : Scientists studying a species of fish have found that when it comes to choosing a leader, most of the time they reach a consensus to go for the more attractive of two candidates.

"It turned out that stickleback fish preferred to follow larger over smaller leaders. Not only that, but they also preferred fat over thin, healthy over ill, and so on. The part that really caught our eye was that these preferences grew as the group size increased, through some kind of positive social feedback mechanism," said Ashley Ward of Sydney University.

Eurozone officially in recession, figures show

Brussels - The 15-member eurozone officially slumped into recession Friday after its economy contracted by 0.2 per cent for a second quarter in a row, the European statistical office said.

Nissan to cut domestic production for exports to US, Europe

Nissan LogoTokyo - Nissan Motor Co said Friday that it would reduce its production mainly for exports to the United States and Europe because of slowing demand amid the global economic downturn.

Japan's third-largest automaker said it would cut 72,000 units of domestic production. The reduction was in addition to an earlier announced production cut of 75,000 cars, bringing the total cuts for this fiscal year, which ends March 31, to 147,000 units.

The cuts would make up about 10 per cent of Nissan's initially planned output of about 1.4 million units.

Kanye West hails himself as ''voice of this generation''
