The event, which was held on December 12, was hosted by Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe, report Contactmusic.

After receiving the accolade, the U2 star said: "This is a very big award for me, because let''s be honest this is as close as I am going to get - as close as a rock star is ever going to get to the Nobel Peace Prize.

Van Johnson, box office idol of war movies, dies at 92Los Angeles  - Actor Van Johnson, who was one of Hollywood's top stars during World War II, has died aged 92 in a New York nursing home, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

Johnson played a succession of all-American military heroes in movies such as A Guy Named Joe and Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo when many more-established stars were serving in the armed forces. He was exempted from military duties because of a car accident in 1943 that left him with a metal plate in his head.

Original Star Wars light sabre sells for 240,000 dollars Los Angeles  - The light sabre used by Luke Skywalker in the movies Star Wars and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back has sold for 240,000 dollars at a Hollywood auction.

The item topped the bidding at a Profiles in History auction held Thursday, according to a press release Friday. In total bidders paid around 3.5 million dollars for more than 500 items of Hollywood memorabilia.

The second most expensive item in the auction was a droid helmet from Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi which sold for 120,000 dollars.
