Fourteen Africans, including nine children, die on way to Spain
Almeria, Spain - Fourteen African would-be immigrants, including nine children, died on board a boat left adrift by engine failure while trying to reach Spain, police said Thursday.
Thirty-four survivors, many of them in poor health, were rescued overnight after being adrift for more than five days. The survivors included 13 women, one of them pregnant.
The tragedy followed the deaths of 14 Nigerians who drowned after their boat capsized Monday. (dpa)
