Ford gets aggressive about India
Buoyed by the success of the Figo in the Indian market, perhaps the Indian subsidiary of the American auto major is gaining more and more importance on the global charts.
In fact, the company has recently said that it will be launching close to 8 new models in the Indian market with a view to tap the Indian consumer. Ford Asia Pacific and Africa (APA) President Joe Hinrichs said at the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) summit that Ford India is very important to the parent company and it will be launching 8 new models based on the global platforms in the domestic circuit.
It may be noted here that its first small car in the Indian market, Figo has registered a sales of over 30,000 units within the first 25 weeks after the launch.
In fact, Joe also pointed out the fact that the company will also look aggressively into the export plans from India. It may be noted here that the company is planning to export close to 10,000 units of the India-made Figo by next year.
