Fingleton wasted thousands on extravagant items, reportAccording to the latest data released, tainted banker Michael Fingleton spent thousands of Euros on extravagant items as he took the Irish Nationwide into deep financial trouble.

It has been revealed that Fingleton spent _6,000 on just a fruit basket and other irresponsible amounts of money on chauffeur bills, fine wines, expensive gifts and rugby tickets. He even made the building society pay _2,700 for his stay in London's five-star Dorchester Hotel in May 2009, which is a month after he resigned from the post of the managing director.

Other expenses included _25,000 on 72 bottles of Cristal bubbly, _14,700 on 24 bottles of wine, _6,000 on an antique fruit basket for a wedding present and _6,600 on six rugby season tickets.

The troubled bank paid for his lavish lifestyle and has now found itself in deep financial crisis and the taxpayers are paying for its _5.4billion debt. Fingleton asked IRFU to send these items to his house before he stepped down. Fingleton has responded by saying that he will not pay any of the expenses as they were incurred for the success of the business.

Experts say that the administrators are likely to investigate his controversial _1million bonus as well as _70,000 in extortionate claims from the company.
