FIAT-Chrysler looks towards India

FIAT-Chrysler looks towards IndiaThere is no denying that FIAT has been able to gain some ground as far as its third comeback is concerned but the company still no plans to bring Chrysler products on to the Indian turf in the short run.

However, the duo has turned towards the Indian economy in a big way as far as sourcing components from the Indian market is concerned. Moreover, according to the new five-year plan which the Fiat top management executives made public to investors in Turin last week, the company will be looking at Best Cost Countries (BCC) to keep a control over the costs in the coming times.

In fact, it is believed that even China and Korea will also play a major role in this strategy top save on costs. Moreover, it is believed that $3 billion through a joint purchasing for the Fiat-Chrysler combine will be spent in the next five years.

Moreover, out of the bullish figure the company is expecting to spend close to $2.3 billion on direct materials.

It may also be noted here that after it merged with Daimler few years back, speculations claimed that Chrysler will soon make its India foray, but that didn't happened as the former was busy establishing the Mercedes brand in the country and since the relationship has made its way to the history books, Chrysler's India foray is still more of a speculation.
