FIAT India registers a fall in sales

FIATFIAT, the 50:50 JV between Tata Motors and Fiat has recently registered a fall in its July numbers in unit sales.

While the sales in the month July fell by 6%, it is to be mentioned here that the Fiat India's total sales (including exports) of FIAT branded vehicles in July, 2010 stood at 2,489.

However, the company's cumulative sales (including exports) for the fiscal currently stands at 9020 vehicles as against 7867 vehicles sold last year which is still up by 14% but the fall in sales is surely a surprise for Fiat as the entire industry is on a growth trajectory.

While the company currently offers the Fiat Linea, Fiat Grande Punto, Fiat Palio and Fiat 500 in the Indian market, it may be noted here that the company has been taking a beating because of the poor service network of Tata's which is shared with fiat.

The company is working on a plan to launch a small car than the Punto in the Indian market by the year 2012.

But till then, the company needs to find a solution to boost its sales in the Indian market.
