FIAT India to export to SAARC countries

Fiat-Grande-PuntoAfter proving its mettle in the Indian market with products like Linea and Grande Punto which have been able to make a lot of noise in the sedan and hatchback segments respectively, FIAT India has now decided to export its models to the SAARC Countries as well to garner high numbers for the company.

Company's Marketing Head Tarun Khanna recently said that the company is weighing options of exporting its cars, namely, Palio, Linea and Punto in SAARC countries including Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

As almost all of these markets are right hand markets, it will not be very difficult for the Indian subsidiary of the Italian auto major to gain high volumes.

It is to be mentioned here that the company started exporting to the South African market last year and has so far exported 2,000 units to South Africa, including 1,100 units of Punto, 360 units of Linea and 650 units of Palio.

While Khanna declined to give any timeline for the future launches of the company but mentioned the fact that the company is planning to launch the high powered version of Linea and CNG Punto after launching two variants of Grand Punto this year.
