FIAT aiming to launch another hatchback for India
FIAT India, a 50:50 JV between the Italian automaker FIAT and the home-grown Tata Motors, is aiming to launch another hatchback priced in the range of Rs. 3 lakh - 3.5 lakh in the Indian market by the end of 2011. FIAT India's CEO Rajeev Kapoor has recently confirmed the fact that the company is working on a small car for the Indian market which will be launched by the end of next year or maximum by early 2012.
Kapoor further added the fact that as FIAT is primarily a small car manufacturer globally it has still managed to change its image in India with the successful launch of Linea, but the company would still like to keep its focus on small cars to generate future growth.
In fact, experts believe that the marketing lessons learnt from products like Palio and Grande Punto will surely help FIAT to gain a competitive edge from its counterparts in the new product category.
While the company is planning to launch a 1.4 turbo charged Linea in the month of June it it's also working on the plan of launching a CNG-Punto in the Indian market.
