Famous Iranian reformist journalist released on bail
Tehran - The Iranian judiciary released on bail a famous journalist arrested in protests following the June 12 election, the labour news agency ILNA reported Friday.
Mohammad Qouchani, senior member of the opposition party Etemad-e Melli and chief editor of the party's newspaper, was freed on Thursday after more than four months in jail, on bail amounting to 100,000 dollars, ILNA said.
Some 4,000 people, including journalists and former reformist officials, were arrested after they protested against alleged fraud in the June 12 presidential election which led to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's re-election.
Over 100 dissidents are still detained and face charges of making plans to topple the Islamic establishment. Dozens of demonstrators were also killed in the protests. (dpa)
