Facebook in news again
The saga of security is in news again as social networking site- Facebook was pinned up by CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre).
It was with reference to the reports, which stated that the social networking site had not incorporated the CEOP panic button. It is a button made available to kids, who can click and report any offensive or inappropriate material to CEOP.
The Home Secretary claimed that the social networking site had “no objection in principle” to install the button. Facebook too agreed on the same aspect of installing the button on the centre section of the site. However, it refused to go with the idea of installing it on all the pages as CEOP insisted.
Facebook indirectly hinted about the disliking of the CEOP button and stated that though the button is a positive step, but plays with the belief of parents who believe that the site is perfectly safe, but it’s not. This gives enough confirmation to prove that Facebook is in no moods to implement the rule.
