Exam stress drives boy to suicide

Exam stress drives boy to suicideEven before the Gujarat state board examinations begin from March 17 this year, the stress of examination has claimed the life of a student. Ajay Mahendra Patel, 17, a student of class XII of Vishwa Bharti Vidhyalaya, committed suicide by hanging himself at his house on Monday.

Sources said that Patel, a resident of Saibaba Society, committed suicide when there was no one in the house. He was to appear in Class XII (science) examination and was in a state of depression over whether he would  get good marks in the examination or not.

At the time of the incident, Patel’s father, Mahendra Patel, who owns a lathe factory, had gone to work, his younger brother Vijay, a class VIII student, was sleeping out of the house and his mother, Falguni, had gone to market.

When Falguni returned home, she found the door of their house closed. Peeping through the window, she found that her son was hanging from the roof of the house. Falguni, with the help of other neighbours, broke open the door. Ajay was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he was declared to be brought dead.
