Everyday Household Chores More Effective Exercise than Wii Fit - Experts Assert
Experts from Which? Computing recently indulged in an extensive study of the effectiveness of Nintendo's Wii Fit gaming console to boost fitness, and discovered that daily household chores were far more likely to serve the purpose, and in a better way.
The virtual gym, which has managed to become very popular, is priced at 230 Pounds, and claims to help health-conscious people get fit without ever having to leave home.
To compare the console to daily house work, Which? Computing undertook testing of 10 minutes of housework vs. 10 minutes of Wii Fit activity, and while the subject using the console managed to burn only 25 calories, the person indulging in cleaning the bathroom burned 34 calories. Also, the subject involved in vacuuming ended up dropping 42 calories.
"Our investigation has found that you can burn more calories by doing common household chores like cleaning the bathroom or vacuuming. And when it comes to more traditional methods of exercising, the Wii Fit fails to match the treadmill in terms of calories burned but it does give the stationary bike a run for its money", shared Which? Computing.
Recently, Wii Fit Plus had managed to bag the support of the Department of Health's Change4Life campaign, the first ever console to receive the honors.
