'Everybody has TO ROCK till they drop'
With the nikaah slated to take place tomorrow, Amrita Arora had her Christian wedding ceremony with Shakeel Ladak at Olive Bar and Restaurant last morning amongst 150 select guests. "It's what we've been looking forward to," says Amrita's mother, Joyce. "We wanted to keep it close, so we just called about 150 people. Father Cleophus, someone who has taught me when I was younger, conducted the ceremony."
The reason for the event being low-key was the fact that it fell during the Lent period. "It's like a time of mourning," she adds, "but Amu wanted to have it now." There will be a sangeet party hosted by Amrita's brother-in-law Arbaaz and sister Malaika tonight at Aurus.
While the bride-to-be was busy in preparations, Malaika was quite excited over her hubby and her plans for the night. "There's just one theme tonight — fun. Everybody has to rock till they drop," she laughs. "We've invited Amu's and our friends and everyone's going to be performing on different songs, Saif (Ali Khan) and Kareena (Kapoor) too. Amrita has no clue as to what's going to happen as we just shut her off from all the rehearsals."
The menu at Aurus, the sangeet venue, will be predominantly Mediterranean, with Moroccan and Indian flavours too. "All the things that Amu and I like," Malaika giggles. "The dress code for tonight is traditional. Amrita is wearing a Vikram Phadnis creation," while Malaika will be in a Shantanu-Nikhil outfit.
