The Guardian reported on Tuesday that famous actor, director and former bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger has been selected by the French government to make the moral case for urgent action on climate change.

The former California governor while talking at the world's first summit of conscience for the climate on Tuesday stressed on the science debate over climate change and said the planetary catastrophe could only be avoided with ethical action.

While addressing an invited audience of intellectuals and spiritual leaders from all faiths, Arnold said, "I've starred in lot of science fiction movies and, let me tell you something, climate change is not science fiction, this is a battle in the real world, it is impacting us right now. I believe the science is in".

He said now is the time when science debate over climate change has ended and we need to take quick and most effective actions. The situation presently faced by earth is bigger than any movie, and it is everyone's responsibility to make this world a better place.

In this year alone nearly 40bn tonnes of carbon will be released into atmosphere. The World Health organization (WHO) said in a statement that air pollution is responsible for causing over seven million premature deaths every year.

The meeting, called by French president François Hollande ahead of the Parispolitical summit, aimed to put pressure on governments to act by mobilizing millions of people to declare publicly that they care for earth.
