English Most-Favored Language Among Internet Users

English Most-Favored Language Among Internet UsersEnglish is the language that Indians aspire to learn! English is the language that the majority of Indians use while communicating on the net!

At the third edition of the Internet Governance Forum officially opened on Wednesday in Hyderabad, Mr. Ajit Balakrishnan, CEO of Rediff.com, stated that from the last ten years, there is no proof of the Internet business that users want Indian languages.

Rediff has email in 11different languages, and 99 percent of the users would like to use email in ‘English’.

Mr. Balakrishnan said that most of Indians use the Internet for non- or little language skill related activities, which include sending messages, download music, pics or videos.

These activities hardly require text input/usage.

According to an interesting statement from the Rediff CEO, the investment he made to make those 11 languages available for its users was ‘useless’?

Not really; in fact, it could be called future-ready.

In the coming years when Internet enters into large sections of rustic Indian regions, that’s when the local languages will come handy, perhaps?
