Abu Dhabi, Dec. 03th, 2008 --The Anti Corruption Squad at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has arrested eight youth in connection with abuse of power and immorality.

UAE Interior Minister HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said that the Ministry of Interior punishes corrupts and keep public opinion posted about charges taken in this respect. The ramrks follow disclosure that the anti corruption squad arrested some personnel at the ministry yesterday over abuse of power.

Colonel Maktoum Al Sherifi, director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said 8 youth, whose ages range from 19-24 were arrested by the CID in connection with the prostitution and bootlegging. According to initial reports, The accused used to collect money from brothels and illegal pubs run by illegal Asian immigrants. Some of the seized elements work with the CID.

He added that the CID was tipped off that five UAE nationals pose as security agents and were being assisted by three Asian guides, who direct them to the brothels and pubs to raid the violators in order to collect money from them. Based on the report, Sheikh Saif instructed secret agents to verify the report. After the verification, they were raided red handed and seized. The accused confessed to the crimes.(WAM/MN)
