Electronic Arts offers SimCity for OLPC project

OLPC Project get EA SimCityOne Laptop per Child (OLPC) project has received first major support from some other corporate house after Electronic Arts announced that the company will donate its 1989 classic SimCity for the project. OLPC project aims to offer cheap laptops to children in developing countries. The project started offering robust laptops to children with a price tag of just $100.

Game developer, Electronic Arts (EA) has offered SimCity to OLPC project and the game will be pre-installed on OLPC laptops. SimCity can be played online free of cost on website of Electronic Arts.

OLPC project also joined hands with Reliance Comm. recently to start a test project in some remote villages in India. OLPC project started with offering laptops for $100. The cost of the laptop has however increased to $200 recently.

Steve Seabolt, VP for Global Brand development at EA said that SimCity is an “unintentionally creative” game and it will be very interesting for children to play. SimCity will develop their decision making skills and will a great fun for them at the same time.

OLPC is offering laptops under various programs in India, Cambodia, Uruguay and many African countries.
