It is expected that the trade ties among Edinburgh and India will only get deeper in times to come as the relations among the duo have already been praised by the First Minister. Alex Salmond, the First Minister of Edinburgh recently said that the relations with India are very vital to the future of Scottish higher education.

He also said that the recently opened office is an important step to take the relations among India and Scotland to a new level. It is expected that the base of Edinburgh will help the country to sign new deals with Indian universities, businesses and government departments.

It is expected that the office will enhance the strategic engagement with Indian partners as well as organizing events for Edinburgh's many Indian alumni.

It may be noted here that the University of Edinburgh has recently signed a MoU with the Delhi University which will be focusing on increasing the joint research and teaching activities in the country.

It is believed that the MoU will help the students of Edinburgh will largely benefit from the exposure that they will get into the Indian culture.
