In the Duleep Trophy semifinal at the Brabourne Stadium on Thursday, downfall of East Zone for a plain 171 was caused by the left-spinner Rajesh Pawar, when he was invited to bat by the home team, following which the weak looking 29-year-old ran through the East innings.

The innings of East fell apart after the man broke the resolve of the fourth-wicket pair, with Saurabh Tiwary's flick snapped up by Kedar Jadhav at short-leg.

Shiv Sundar Das and Dibyendu Chakrabarty were dispatched by Kulkarni and Trivedi with impressive wicket-taking deliveries. The wicket of Manoj Tiwary was taken by Nayar.

Then the innings started for West and Jaffer was dismissed for a duck, Ranadib Bose commendable of full marks for enticing the right-hander to his doom.
