Ease in weather condition improves rail, air traffic

Air-traffic-weatherAir traffic at the Indira Gandhi International Airport again gathered momentum due to ease in fog condition and steps taken by the airport authorities to bring normalcy in flight operations at the airport. All flights landed and took off on time. There is no news of diversion or cancellation of flights and operations were reportedly going smooth at the busy airport.

The ongoing foggy days significantly hit traffic at the airport as visibility reduced to almost zero making it tough for the passengers having busy schedule and fixed appointments.

Both domestic and international traffic hit significantly since Christmas as fog made poor visibility on runway. The authorities have to deploy low visibility procedures (LVP) at the new runway around 10 PM for making the planes to land and take off without any hassle.

An airport official said that operations are going normal despite partial visibility due to fog.

Intense fog also disturbed schedule of many rails in addition to claiming several lives due to accidents. A railway official told, "We have set up temporary kitchens at smaller stations also. Senior officers will look after passenger amenities. The help lines are operational at all important stations.''
