E3 2008: Sony launches new devices and games

Sony is doing its best to enhance its console games line after launch of Microsoft’s Xbox 360. It has launched 80 GB PS3 model, Ratchet and Clank Size Matters PSP Entertainment Pack and the Videogame PS2 Pack at E3 2008.

It has introduced upgraded 80 GB version of PS3. It has some added features of as compared to 40 GB model. The new version of PS3 has a Blu-ray player, HDMI output, an integrated Wi-Fi connection, Cell Broadband Engine apart from movies, photos and other entertainment content supporting features. It will retail for $399 (approx. Rs. 17,212) and will be available in September 2008. It supports over 140 exclusive and third-party games as well as PlayStation Network (PSN).

Sony has also launched a new Ratchet and Clank Size Matters PSP Entertainment Pack. This device supports various features such as a blockbuster movie on UMD (Universal Media Disc), a 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo and a PN voucher. PN voucher helps to download puzzle game echo chrome from the PlayStation Store. It will cost around $199.99 (approx. Rs. 8,627) and come in market by October 2008. Sony will also launch over 130 new games for PS 2 console this year.

Sony Computer Entertainment America president Jack Tretton said the company has three exclusives business platforms, the broadest, line-up and original content delivery and company will deliver products and services to strengthen its brands in coming year.
